This review is from: Jonah Hex [DVD] (DVD)
Loads to enjoy here. It's an updated, outsized revenge tale that happens to be set in the wild west. The piece is peppered with larger the life characters, rediculous situations, outrageous weaponry and bags of bare faced enthusiasm. After refusing a murggerous order, Jonah Hex, a confederate cavalryman, suffers the wrath of his psychotic ex commander Turnbull who, after the war, enacts bloody retribution by killing Hex's family and sending our hero to his grave.....or so we think...you see it all goes a bit like "the Crow" whereby Hex is brought back from the other side, resulting in his ability to revive the dead, momentarily. He becomes a bounty hunter before being recruited by the new government to track down and take his revenge on Turnbull who has since developed a super weapon. I read all the poor reviews before watching this, and I'm glad I did because my massively low expectations were blown away. Far from being a turkey, this appears as another example of a fun movie that doesn't deserve anything like it's poor reputation would suggest.
