Nice Game ... hope to see more in the future,
This review is from: Cities XL 2011 (DVD-ROM)
I have heard the worst reviews about the game and I got a special offer for digital download for 10£, what I discovered was a very ambitious game with loads of complexity and the need of a powerful machine. With the latest patch the game is very stable.
Gigantic maps/Good Graphics/ Many buildings/Unique resource system/Complex transportation/ bus routes and metro are really interesting much more than simcity/Good interface/ good 3d streaming (some times it looks unbelievable how you can a fit a gigantic and super detailed world like that in one graphic card)/ Good idea about upgrading stuff like the city hall, bus routes, roads./ The layering of information on the map is very well designed and looks cool (density/pollution/crime/education/satisfaction)
Needs polishing(usability, shortcuts, performance) / Needs better Music / Needs multicore support / overland trains/ more park options/ needs to go deeper on the impact of education and public services / Needs to take its own path away from SimCity / The tutorials are not as funny as they intended to be / Terraforming should paint the light map and improved/ It has a few bugs but it is playable /
There is room for much improvement but the basic game is really great. Resources, zoning and direct transport management make it really unique.
I heard they had financial problems and I hope they will find someone to pump a couple of millions in it... I am of the opinion that they should lower the price and make people aware of the game ( maybe with a multicore patch first) . With the idea of releasing a game per year the company should do well in the long term.
