I was actually rather disappointed when I heard this album. Press reviews had hinted at a probably-destined-to-be-ignored gem, so a blinding selection of guitar songs was expected.
Rival Schools do actually manage to fulfill the promise on a few songs here - certainly "Used For Glue", "High Acetate" and the awesome "Good Things" (which deserves to, and will be, huge) are fantastic cuts and began to convince me that the slow burning hype was completely justified. The trouble is, there are too many far more average songs here towards the second half of the album (such as "My Echo" and "The Switch") that rain on what would otherwise be a pretty fantastic parade.
So, I would say if you're planning on picking up a copy first that you have a listen before hand if possible. It's a shame though because on the strength of some of the material here this record could have deserved to me huge.
