I had been very eager to buy this game and rushed out to buy it last week. My initial impression is that the graphics, the water-colours, are superb. When you remove the curse in a location the colour comes back to the land and the effect is pleasantly surprising, beautiful in fact. The brush stroke concept is original but I find it quite annoying. Bascially you draw what is needed ie. Paint a circle for the sun to appear, slash a line through a rock to break it up. This technique is vital to progress in the game and enemies can be attacked and accomplishments achieved. Fighting monsters with your weapon is easy enough. The large amount of text to read would be ok if it was not accompanied by some maddening Japanese gibberish. The gibberish was so bad and annoying my wife said she felt she was going mental. The map does not really appear user friendly and you could spend an awful lot of time chasing around the land to find out where you should be heading next.
I really wanted to like this game and it certainly is worth a look. However I don't know if I can really be bothered to continue with the game as apart from the graphic the game play does not entice me to come back to it. Look before you buy I would say.
