This review is from: Berlin Cabaret (Studies in Cultural History) (Paperback)
I have always loved Berlin and if you know a little of the city this book will be even more interesting for you. I found every chapter fascinating and as I kept re-reading many sections and making notes it took me longer to finish than it should ,as the main book is only 282 pages.
The title is perhaps a slight misnomer as the book is not just about cabaret in Berlin and its environs but includes an insight into this stage across Germany . At the same time you will understand the changes in the official standpoint to such entertainment from Wilhelmine days through the Weimar times to the Third Reich. And what differentiates das Cabaret from das Kabarett ? Read the book and find out !
There are around 40 illustrations/photos too.
