Fully uncut at last - yipee,
This review is from: The Young Ones - Series 1-2 [DVD] (DVD)
Like most other Young Ones fans who grew up in the early 80's, this has been one of my most eagerly awaited DVD's ever.
Presented over 3 discs, we have series 1 and 2 on the first two disc's whilst the third disc contains a couple documentaries which are interesting but could have been so much better had all the cast and Ben Elton taken part.Still its not a great problem as its the programs that we are interested in more than the extras. Also Demolition' and 'Summer Holiday' contain a full audio commentary by Paul Jackson.
They are presented FULLY UNCUT and that includes the episode Boring which has several what we would now call racist terms spoken by a policeman (abit to a white person) which almost never gets shown on TV.
All the music interludes are included too which again were missing from previous releases.
All in all this is a superb box set which should not be missed.

No, it is NOT fully uncut: The shagging teddy-bears in "Nasty" are cut, so is one flash frame in "Time".

M. P. Williamson says:
They cut them because of changing regulations of the censorship board - the best example of how pathetic these people are was upon the release of the 10th anniversary of Clks on DVD; the film itself was rated 18 due to conversations of "a sexual nature" and yet; the fully uncut, uncensored version of the film is only a 15....
although the Dylan cover would have been more of a copyright issue (sometimes people dont allowthings they okayed to make it on dvd)

There has been another bit of wrong information here:
The Jools Holland Dylan cover is NOT CUT, it is included in this set (it was cut on the previous UK DVD).
The only missing bits here are the shagging teddy-bears in "Nasty" and one flash frame in "Time".

What was the missing flash frame? I can never remember which episodes had which frames, apart from the sixth episode, which didn't contain any. From memory, there was the tap, the white bird, the 'The End' caption from 'Carry On Cowboy', the man making a funny face, the leaping frog, the skiier... any I've missed?

Paul McNamee says:
Wasn't there a vagina in one? That's likely the one that's gone.

spot on. One of my favourite jokes too.
"Vyvyan, I know you're in my bedroom preparing one of your desperately adult practical jokes...
glad I've hung on to my VHS copy

why cut a single frame of the vagina, this is still rated as 18 isn't it?????????? So a single flash frame of a vagina gets removed... I don't think I'll ever understand the guidelines of the BBFC, if they were responsible for this of course... and the 2 shagging teddy bears...is this meant to offend people? Jesus, this really isn't funny anymore????? So we have to hold on to redundent VHS tapes in order to maintain an uncut version...how stupid.
Someone out there please wake up!!
