He's Done Better,
This review is from: John Barrowman (Gift Box) (Audio CD)
I feel it's time someone started writing songs for John as most of his cd's are covers, a previous cd Another Side is much better than this new cd which I felt was disappointing.
Having recently bought John's dvd which is fantastic, I feel John ia a very visual entertainer (like Shirley Bassey)and sometimes hearing them on record is not the same, however to be fair to Mr. Barrowman I have only listened to the new cd once so perhaps it will grow on me.

It would be helpful to know why you were disappointed. Was it solely because it's only cover songs, something in the way he sings them, or maybe something completely different? Thanks.

Nanny it's hard to say why I feel a bit disappointed with this album, I really enjoyed John's dvd as I said and I think seeing him perform is great and I hope I do see him onstage one day.
Sometimes I feel that John's voice is rather lightweight for the songs he sings, like I Won't Send Roses, which is usually sung by a man with a more mature voice like Robert Preston and Robert Goulet I think has also recorded this song. Probably John does his best with the songs but I like other cd's of his better.
