5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Product!!, 12 July 2009

This review is from: TOMY Winnie the Pooh Sweet Dreams Lightshow (Baby Product)
I bought this product for my little girl when she was around 9weeks old. She totally loves it! It is great because it allows for the volume to be adjusted aswell as having a daytime mode and night time mode. In the morning, i have the music quite loud whereas at night, i put it down as low as it can go. It has 3 different songs for the day mode and another 3 different ones for night mode. I always stick to the same one at night time so that my little girl realises its bedtime. After her feed, i put her into her crib, put it onto the timer mode for 10mins and by the time it switches off, she's asleep!! FAB! And if she gets up cryng at any point, the lightshow switches itself back on and she goes back to sleep. Means that i dont have to lift her out to calm her, she now has the ability to get herself back to sleep. I would defo recommend this product!

Yes it´s really a nice toy and this review covers what the toy does ... except ... the mechanisms inside appear to be quite fragile and after a few months it starts to work less well. Ours now doesn´t allow you switch properly between day and night. The activity buttons just stay in night mode - so in effect about half of them don´t work. I think the problem is that if you leave it in the cot as its supposed to be left baby will tend to beat upon it to make it do something (at least that´s what ours does) and it can´t really stand up to this treatment and eventually starts to stop working. Look at some of the three star reviews and you can see that all sorts of malfunctions are common.

That said it did work for about two months for us and our baby is so used to it now, and its so cheap, I´m considering buying another in the hope we get another two months out of it by which I expect baby not to be much interested any more. He is five months now.

Clearly the product is a winner for the manufacturers. I which they´d just build it to a bit of a higher quality.

*Update* Another three months and the unit has now died completely as it won´t play tunes anymore. On the other hand I will probably buy another unit as our baby still likes this and has got used to going to sleep with it. Just remember if you buy this you are paying for a unit which will last for about six months and then you´ll probably feel obliged to find another. There may be better value and better built equivalents available.
