This review is from: The Impossible Dead (Hardcover)
I have been a huge fan of Ian Rankin for a long time, and will always buy his books for his excellent characterisation and sense of place. However, I have to say that, over the last few years, his plots have become increasingly ludicrous. The Impossible Dead takes us to a whole new level of ludicrousness. The first two thirds of the book are excellently written, as always, and well grounded in gritty reality, but suddenly Mr Rankin does not know where to go with the plot. I do wish his editor would keep him grounded, or at least close to reality.
