Disappointing title from a usually amazing developer.,
This review is from: Diablo III (PC/Mac DVD) (DVD-ROM)Like most Blizzard fans I was very much anticipating the release of Diablo 3. However unfortunately I found this one very disappointing. The main reason for this is the repetitive nature and far too short story mode. In a world where RPG gamers are used to long, involved stories in their games (such as Skyrim, Mass Effect), Diablo 3 falls short. Instead of having a decent sized story, the user is just encouraged to repeat the same short game on increasingly higher difficulties to progress to nothing new.
I recently completed the game on Normal (the first difficulty) and I have had no compulsion to continue with it. Fortunately I was on the Blizzard Annual Pass scheme so I received the game for free, however I know if I bought this at the currently huge full price I would be very annoyed with the outcome.
One important thing to bare in mind though is that the gameplay etc. is actually very good and very fun, its just far too short and repetitive.
Graphics 5/5 - Amazing graphics. Gameplay looks beautiful and cinematics are top notch. Game also runs on surprisingly low specs.
Audio 5/5 - No complaints. Voice acting is very good.
Gameplay 2/5 - Very fun too play and you will love your first playthrough. Gets boring quickly after though.
Multiplayer 3/5 - Good idea but seems flawed.
I will remain a stalwart Blizzard fan, but ill hesitate before getting any Diablo products again.

Good review, thanks!
I just want to say that the genre name of the game is repetition. It might not be for everyone but as I've progressed through the difficulty levels I'm beginning to understand that the goal is just to get as good gear as possible. It's a distilled version of their (and indeed most other) MMO.
Unfortunately there's no real purpose to it, other than perhaps selling the gear on the RMAH, and if you don't enjoy grinding gear then this won't be a fun game for you. I've also realised the game is much more fun to play with friends, preferably if you're communicating through Skype or TS, than with random strangers that never talk to you. As the game becomes harder you need to utilise your class skills in a different way and the gameplay becomes deeper and more interesting.
Just like you, I gave the game three stars in my review. For me the 'fun factor' is four, perhaps even five, once you play on harder difficulties with friends.
