Better than I could have hoped for. This really is a classic example of getting it right. The first Kindle was great, and still is, but the Fire HD is just wonderful. The Hi Def photo's are better than my laptop. Everything connected first time, all seems to be working. I know that there is a slim chance that it might melt in a puff of smoke tommorow, but I doubt it. And if it does, Amazon's customer service is 1st class. I half regreted this because of the cost. Yes I know it's very cheap compared to other tablets, but never-the-less represents a large payout for me. Having tried it out I no longer have any regrets. All of my books and music appeared as if by magic and, important this, not installed but on the cloud. I thought it would put everything on the tablet and I would have to spend ages deleting a mass of stuff. It waited for me to tell it what to download. It really is intuative, I'm almost 70 and I managed to get it up and running without a problem. To a modern youngster it will be very simple. What a difference from my "Smartphone", that downloaded everything from the year 1745 to the present without asking. I think a lot of the Kindle's success comes from them genuinely listening to their customer feedback. How long this will last remains to be seen, but having read quite a lot about the new iPad mini, and Windows 8, other companies appear to have stopped listening altogether. Really can't praise this thing enough. It is just wonderful and I would recommend to anyone to buy without any hesitation.

Mark Twain says:
Aren't you at all worried about the lack of privacy settings ? You cannot remove the Amazon proprietary APPS that are running in the background and sharing your personal data. Try and you'll see for yourself.

Mark Twain, I am in the process of researching the KFHD/Nexus, I have seen your name crop up an unbelievable amount of times with regards privacy. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook and many others collect an incredible amount of your data whether you like it or not, the intrusion from Amazon will be on EXACTLY the same scale as all the other providers. Don't forget every website you visit also takes a little bit of your info in varying degrees dependant on how legit that site is. I suggest if you are that worried about privacy you should not use the Internet at all, make sure you shred every piece of written material you own, never ever go to a bank, never get employed, never speak to anyone and finally never leave the house. I'm still undecided on a KFHD or Nexus but the privacy issue is not one of concern as they are all as bad as each other whether you like it or not.
