This review is from: Pendragon's Banner (The Pendragon's Banner Trilogy Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
I devoured rather than read this amazing trilogy about the life of Arthur Pendragon. Set in Dark Age Britain, following the withdrawal of Rome, the story tells of one man's bid to unite and hold a crumbling Romano-British society whose problems include inter-tribal rivalry, invasion, sea raids and settlers hungry for land. Helen Hollick weaves a brilliant, gritty story peopled with characters that come alive on the page. Arthur is charismatic, yet flawed. Gwenhwyfar, his wife, a feisty, capable and honourable woman. I found myself living in their world, caught up in their joys and sorrows. Painstakingly reasearched and well-plotted, Hollick delivers a believable and spellbinding tale.
