An essential for every HTC Sensation owner,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First of all, I would like to say that I am using a custom ROM of Android 4.1.2 with no HTC Sense. Secondly, I do not care about what Battery-Test apps show because I am more interested in real world results. Thirdly, I charged and discharged the battery three times prior to this review. For the fourth charge, I switched the phone off and charged it for 12 hours straight. I will try to keep the review as concise as possible with key sentences that actually benefit you as you read them. Now onto the review itself:
The battery was placed in a clear plastic wrapper with a resealable adhesive strip at the top. The battery does not come in retail packaging. Apart from the wrapper, all you get is the bare unit itself.
It is the exact same size and weight as the original HTC battery so the back cover fits on perfectly.
I tested the unit under lots of load and did not notice any high temperatures whatsoever. Temperature-wise, it is exactly the same as the original battery and may even feel a tad cooler.
No excess static charge is produced by the battery.
While charging, the (battery icon) percentage-bar is inconsistent at times and seems to suddenly decrease by 2% when you open an app, go into the settings or even tap the screen.
The problem seems to automatically fix itself after a few minutes. Also, the battery doesn't seem to charge past 99% and requires a reboot which then shows correctly as 100%. This doesn't always happen, though. In fact, this could just be a ROM issue.
This battery will give you at least 25% increase over the original stock battery, but for me, it felt like my phone had doubled in battery life. When I say "double", I mean, my phone used to last no more than 12 hours before it needed re-charging. Now, with this new battery installed, I am getting a full day of usage. Yes, literally "24 HOURS" of moderate use.
Charge time (mains): 2 hours
Full HD video playback: 3:30mins
SD video playback: 5:17mins
Moderate usage time: 24 hours
Standby time: 50+ hours
For skeptics: I used a Full HD 1920x1080 video with a Bit rate of: 8663 Kbps. Sound was turned off during the continuous playback marathon. This is simply a test to see improvements over the original battery (which gave me 2:30mins) and is not a reconstruction of what you would do realistically. You should match the results in my benchmark with what you get currently and determine whether the advantages warrant buying this product.
That said, an hour increase when the phone is almost completely stressed, and between 8-12 hours increase when used moderately is enough to make this a recommended 5-star item. You can't go wrong at only £8.
Last but not least, I have no idea what the first reviewer is talking about and you can see from my comments how fantastic this battery is. Whether it's really 2850mAh and whether it gives you a high battery-app-score or not, who cares? Real world tests show this thing is far better than the stock battery and is simply an essential "must-buy" item for a battery draining phone like the HTC Sensation.
