Viva las Voice,
This review is from: Viva Las Vegas (Audio CD)
Elvis Presley is without doubt the greatest singer that has ever lived, his voice just seems so more human than any other and is rich with feeling and that comes across on this one the many soundtracks to his films. This one being the songs from the wonderful film Viva las vegas.
The standard of song is higher than usual (although all the sountracks are worth taking a closer look at) with Elvis delivering the title track as only he could, this song helps to make the film memorable unlike other title tracks such as 'Easy come Easy go'
'I need somebody to lean on' is a fantastic ballad that is unlike anything he did beore or since is delivered in a relaxed but aching manner and Elvis sings it better than the people that have made these types of ballads their traemark.
One thing that continues to be absent from his soundtrack is the song Anne Margret sang in the movie called 'My Rival' this is a shame as it is better than the Nancy Sinatra song that is included on the 'Speedway' soundtrack.
There are a couple of duets with Anne Margret on here, 'The lady loves me' is a charmingly funny and 'Your the Boss' is seductive and delivered in a way that todays singers couldn't begin to emulate. On this edition the outtakes includes 'Today, tommorow and forever' sang as a duet, it is charming and historic but ultimately not quite as good as the master with Elvis singing on his own.
'Santa lucia' is brilliant foreign piece. 'Come on everybody' is spellbinding Elvis magic and nothing ever dips in standard and best of all Elvis is singing it.
