Tokyo Brown Teak Bookcase by Oakland,
I've been needing a good bookcase for some time now and didn't want a flat pack one as the books I have are a bit on the heavy side, and I didn't want the shelves to end up sagging. I'd had a look at flat pack bookcases and the price of them are only around £100 cheaper. So I thought, I'll try to find something with a bit of quality to it. Something sturdy that won't fall apart, sag or fall off to one side. I looked thought allot of styles and prices and finally plumbed for Oak Furniture lands' Toyko style Brown Teak Mango bookcase. I was hopping for something that would last me a life time, something with style and robustness and quite elegance. I have to tell you now that I was not, disappointed.
After ordering Amazons' system told me that the delivery would take place probably after Christmas to second week in January, and as the weather has been appalling this year I was happy to wait, I even put in the order details that I wasn't in any rush and would prefer it was delivered at their leisure. I believe I ordered about the 4th of December. Despite this, I'm happy to tell you that Oak Furniture Land not only delivered before Christmas but contacted my by phone to arrange an acceptable delivery time and date, but also contacted me by text message to confirm the delivery would take place. Valuable peace of mind considering the weather.
It was delivered by two gentlemen who where curious polite and efficient, they put it where I wanted it in the house and didn't just dump it and leave also chatting with me as they did so. Excellent customer service both from their office and the delivery staff.
I was a bit puzzled though that the payment I made for the bookcase didn't seem to have come out of my account for some time. I think this perhaps a quirk of the Amazon payment system, maybe waiting confirmation of delivery before starting to process the payment. (but don't hold me to this).
All told, the bookcase is stunning, solid, has ample space for even large cookbook or manual style A4 size or large books, so would easily accommodate say a hifi system (although there is no wire access holes in the case it's self) with five shelves it should be enough for most peoples book collection. With two draws below about the internal size of a shoe box, I use for storing A4 printer paper. The maintenance handout that came with it recommends applying beeswax twice a year to maintain it's finish and to deter cracking and also informs you that some warping my occur specially in environments with temperature changes which all being said is fair comment. (it's not made of plastic!) and just before I go one last thing, it's not a problem, just to tell you that the packing box it came in said made in China so it'll be coming to you from global rather than local craftsmen, and as I say I am a long way from being unhappy with it.
