Is this a movie?,
This review is from: New York, I Love You [DVD] (2009) (DVD)
This movie is very randomly thrown together. When it first started I thought it was going to be along the lines of 21 Grams/Babel in that all these separate stories are woven together and are connected. It never happens though.
You spend between 5-10 minutes with a set of characters and then it moves to a different set of characters and a new story.
Essentially it's a collection of short films, apposed to a 'movie' with never enough time to really know a character or become attached to them. If you try this out with that knowledge, your expectations won't be so great. It is watchable but at the end of it all you wonder what it was actually about. Nothing ever feels resolved and it often feels like you're waiting to return to a previous setting... and you never do.
You may want to really see this if one of your favourite actors/actresses is in it but I would advise to rent it. You'll not want to watch it more than once. I didn't take much away from it at all.
