This review is from: Police Casualties in Ireland, 1919-1922 (Paperback)
This is a superb book covering the partition period of Ireland. The RIC was the main target of the IRA/Sinn Fein as they (the RIC)were the key to the island. Get rid of the RIC and you can take the island. Despite the murderous onslaught of the IRA, the RIC along with the military held firm to bring the IRA to the table. Unfortunately 493 RIC men lost their lives in defending the country and this book discusses those murders in depth. A thoroughly excellent read and reference book for those interested in Irish History.

Defending the country??? They were fighting against the democractic will of the people (at least outside of Ulster).
