3.0 out of 5 stars Step in the right direction - but issues, 21 Feb. 2013

This review is from: BT 6500 Cordless DECT Phone with Answer Machine and Nuisance Call Blocking (Electronics)
So having endured international, withheld numbers and silent messages I wanted to block such calls and this phone seemed ideal. It certainly seems to identify correctly international and withheld numbers and the phone doesn't ring, but I have two issues with the device:-

1. why when I choose to block international and withheld numbers are they still directed to the answer phone? I don't get a ring but still need to clear out silent or pre-recorded messages from these numbers from my answer phone. The only solution seems to be to turn off the answer phone completely. Is there an option to say I don't want these types of blocked calls to be directed to my answer phone?

2. why can I only block 10 numbers? The devious ambulance chasers and PPI scavengers ring repeatedly using the same number and then change numbers when reported so one needs to be able to block numbers by the dozen. There is no excuse for not being able to store more than 10 as large amounts of storage is dirt cheap these days.

I may be wrong on the above 2 complaints so please correct me if in my desire to stop these calls that I have set up the phone in haste and missed some features. I am still using the phone and won't return it as it is a step in the right direction, but is sadly lacking when it could be oh so good.

Hello Chris... you've actually raised some issues that I had been thinking over as we were thinking of buying this phone.
Only being able to block 10 numbers is very strange... as you say storage is surely no problem so why the 10 numbers only... BT?
Yes... it could have been so much better I'm sure... the main issue being why only 10 numbers that can be blocked when you can store about 200 of your own contacts?
