Americanisms and complete stupidity with the Geography of England by Americans really does ruin a book; thanks for the warning I will give this a miss.

Absolutely agree with you. I hate the way "Americanisms" are creeping into so many books that are set in the UK. I recently read a detective story set in the 1920's and it was just the same, it really spoiled what was a good story !!
