This review is from: My Sister Jodie (Kindle Edition)
My 9 year old daughter has read and enjoyed a few Jacqueline Wilson books, and from the blurb this sounded suitable. We downloaded it onto her Kindle so I didn't have the physical book to look at. She devoured it over about 3 days. After reading the ending at bedtime, she was in floods of tears and unable to sleep. If there had been any inkling of the ending, there is no way I would have let her read it. This book, and the others, should have a guide of the appropriate age range on the cover and in the synopsis. I think especially as Jacqueline Wilson writes books for such an age range, it is very hard to judge for independent readers. I am also concerned, now that I have read more than the top few reviews, that the content about the behaviour of the main character may not have been suitable. Lesson learnt as a parent, and I won't be buying any more books by this author.
