Rally co-driver tales,

This review is from: Mason's Motoring Mayhem: Tony Mason's hectic life in motorsport and television (Hardcover)
I recently read both this book and 'Listen To Me' by Mike Nicholson.
Mason's co-driving career led to a long-standing TV presentation job, Nicholson's did not.
Surprisingly the Mason book includes less wit and humour than Nicholsons - perhaps because he took his career far more seriously whilst Nicholson's antics were off the scale.
Mason's Motoring Mayhem gives a story of Ton Mason's life and an interesting insight into the technicalities of rallying and how it was possible to bend the rules to gain an advantage. It also represents a 'who's who' of the characters and celebrities whom Mason has met.
As a clubman rally driver this was an interesting read but I recommend Nicholson's book more highly if you were going to read only one autobiography about co-drivers.
My recommendation is to read Mason's book first then Nicholson's to ensure you have warm feelings about your 'sack of spuds' when you next get into a rally car.
