Brilliant cage (excpet for bar chewers...),
This review is from: Savic Mickey 2xl Navy Blue Mice And Dwarf Hamster Cage 80 X 50 X 38 Cm (Misc.)
I love this cage! But our first hamster doesn't... or just loves the bars too much! I got this for Willow as an upgrade from the tiny cage she was given to us in, and for various reasons, it took a while to come, so she got into a habit of bar chewing, leading to her now being in a ZooZone2. So now we have a hamster we adopted from the pet shop in it.
The good points:
It's easy to clean.
The size is larger than the RSPCA minimal sizes for a hamster cage, and easily big enough for a Syrian hamster (they must be kept alone).
The bar spacing means that it's fine for smaller hamsters too, making it future proof - at this price, you don't want to be buying 1 cage for a Syrian then replacing it because 2 or 3 years later when your Syrian has passed on & you want a dwarf hamster.
It's attractive without being childish - it fit well in my sitting room and now fits well in my elder son's bedroom.
The big front door means that you can easily get your hands in to do food & water & fuss your pet, get a ball in for them to get into...
The clips are secure and the lack of external tunnels mean the pet is secure from cats & dogs taking a closer interest in the hamster than you want them to!
The bad points:
The water bottle leaks.
The wheel fixings are not strong.
The possibly not so good points:
The shelf is wire so not suitable for hamsters as their feet will get damaged - for hamsters, you need to use a different shelf, cover it or take it out...
The Sputnik, wheel & tunnels could be too small for a full grown Syrian...
If you have a bar chewing hamster, they may not be distracted by the size into stopping...
