A great slow burner,
This review is from: The Sun Came Out (Audio CD)This album contains a collection of some of my favourite artists, including a couple of people I'd never heard of before.
After Neil's '7 Worlds Collide' venture I was really looking forward to hearing what the 'gang' could produce in terms of new music.
On first listen two tracks which really stood out for me were Don McGlashan's 'Girl make your own mind up' and Phil Selways 'The ties that bind'.
Also, the Johnny Marr track 'Run in the Dust', contains one of Johnny's best vocal's, is it just me, or is there something Lennon'esq in his vocal delivery(?)
It's not the easiest album to initially connect with, but I think when you do, it will become a firm favourite on the stereo.
The quality and breadth of songs on offer are really outstanding, more so when you think it was written/recorded in just a three week period.
More of a mellow 'Desert Sessions'?
Once again Neil and co. have produced a cracking album, this time using all new material.
A slow burner which I'm sure will reward well into the future.
