Very reliable and quiet,
This review is from: Freecom Hard Drive 750GB USB-2 (3.5") Aluminium Enclosure (Personal Computers)
This is the second Freecom hard drive I have purchased. The first one was 500GB (it is several years old). The second was this 750GB model (now over a year old). I use these for backups. The 500GB drive has my photo originals and the 750GB is used for daily incremental and monthly full backups of my PC. As such they are switched on for a short amount of time then switched off on a daily basis. Really bad use, most disk drives prefer to be left on.
So far after several years they are fully reliable and quiet. Occasional I need to recover some files, no problem.
I bought Genie Backup Manager 8 not bundled with the drives.

My 750GB drive is still working well

Still working very reliably. I recently had to recover a file from it, no problems.
Both the 500 GB and the 750 GB still working reliably. The 750 GB drive makes a little noise but not as much as my PC!
These metalled framed drives and their excellent cooling features are only available in terabyte form (available on Amazon). Follow the link for this defunct product to find the current crop. Beware of the plastic framed drives: they overheat quickly with all this implies.
Still working reliably, both the 500 GB and the 750 GB models inspite of much abuse by being switched on and off daily for backups.
