Chaotic, disorganised and simply just bad,
This review is from: Millennium: A History of Our Last Thousand Years (Hardcover)
This trendy history book attempts to give us a non-European history of the last thousand years (written by a European professor at one of Britain's elite universities, naturally). There's nothing wrong with that in principle, except that this tome is essentially unreadable. This chaotic book jumps around from subject to subject with no chronology (a "non-linear narrative" would probably be the excuse) that it is incredibly difficult to divine the argument that the author is attempting to make.
I was really looking forward to this but I gave up on it about 400 pages in to it; life is too short for bad books and indeed, writing about bad books.
