Yes, these are expensive shears but - thankfully - you get what you pay for and these are unlikely to disappoint.
I bought mine a couple of years ago to replace a pair I had inherited from my father, which must have been in regular use for about 30 years and are still hanging in the shed for occasional use. I didn't seriously expect a modern version to be quite as good as the originals but I have been hedge cutting with them since purchase and they are truly a joy to use, especially if (like me) you believe you can never get the same close and accurate cut with electric or motorised shears.
Our hedges are predominantly privet but with holly, thorn, laurel and yew mixed in with it. We also have a field hedge made up of almost everything under the sun, including brambles, fir, ribes, damson, holly, lonicera, thorn etc. It doesn't matter what you cut, these shears go through like a knife through butter, even older thicker stems.
They are not lightweight but neither do I find them uncomfortably heavy, although I suggest a lady might prefer one of this brand's smaller shears for comfort. I haven't had to adjust or sharpen them since purchase.
If I lost mine today I'd buy another pair immediately even at this price and I can't reccomend them more than that!
