This review is from: Gallant Waif (Mills & Boon Historical) (Paperback)
Orphaned and destitute, Kate Farleigh's noble spirit and unflagging strength serve her well in facing her solitary life. When she is carried off by the wealthy and imperious Lady Cahill and deposited in the neglected hideaway of Lady C's bitter, war-scarred grandson Jack, Kate hopes she has also found a place to hide from her own scandalous past. Jack is by turns outraged, annoyed and amused by Kate's feisty, no-nonsense approach to life. There are no dull moments in the story of plucky young Kate and the darkly sexy, broodingly handsome Jack. When it seems they may reach a tenuous peace, deceptions and scandal threaten to destroy any chance they might have for a future together. Ms. Gracie's attention to historical detail shines through to provide an excellent backdrop for this well-written tale of love and (mis)adventure.
