This review is from: Every Six Seconds (Audio CD)
This is the first official release from Memphis, USA's finest, but they did release a self titled CD themselves in 1997 which sold a respectable 10,000 copies locally. Soon after the release of this CD they signed a record deal with Island/Def jam Records. Which then Procuced their debut major label release, "Every Six Seconds".
A bit about the band - Saliva were formed in 1996 by Vocalist Josey Scott and Guitarist Chris Dabaldo, they then recruited guitarist Wayne Swinny then Completed with the additions of drummer Paul Crosby and bassist Dave Novotny, Saliva came together. To qu the quote the band about the name 'Saliva' they said "it's controversial and different, and like it or not, you'll never forget it."
On first listen to Every Six Seconds, you will pick up on the crunchy, chugging riffs on opening track "Superstar," the rap stylings of "Doperide" and the sheer brutality on "Click Click Boom" and "Beg" And the first single "Your Disease" also taken from the soundtrack to the film Dracula 2000.
For me the standout tracks are "Greater Than/Less Than" with it's outstanding sound and superb chorus, "My Goodbyes" with it's more mellow approach and 'from the heart' lyrics, and of course the mighty "After Me" which is more aggressive approach. But I was hard pushed to find a bad track on the album and after many..many..many listens I am yet to find one and doubt very much that I ever will !.
