Honest account of football fans feelings for their chosen club,
This review is from: We are Tottenham: Voices from White Hart Lane (Paperback)
I suspect this book will mostly be bought by Tottenham fans, but everyone who follows a club with any kind of conviction will enjoy it.
The book consists of a series of candid overviews by Spurs fans on why they picked Spurs initially and have stayed loyal to them. Everyone will recognize themselves in the pages, and I imagine hear themselves as well.
Tottenham's maverick support is large (other London clubs will argue it, but it is the largest in London based on independent research, and 4th in the country) but more notably, draws a very diverse crowd. The book reveals an honest appraisal of the club from a good mixture of its fan base, united in their commendable loyalty towards a relentlessly underacheiving side.
Though their certainly not the only fans who can claim an unrelenting optimism, which is why others should enjoy the book, they speak from the heart. There are many excellent Football lit books out there (and many bad ones) but this is a little gem.
