Here we can enjoy how computer-animated scenes enrich historic drama of epic proportion. History in this BBC production is brought to the viewer, using place of death and actual remains of victims of the year 79 eruption of mount Vesuvius, and building a very plausible story-line around it. But what gives this production the best historic background is the implementation of the ancient written account of Pliny the Younger who witnessed the events north from the (today called) Bay of Naples from the home of Pliny the Elder, his uncle, who died - as we may believe - during a rescue-attempt.
