Click away from this page and walk away, pretend this book never happened. I went into this with no idea that it would have no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I read the entire thing, holding onto hope it would turn into something other than a waste of my time. Not one of the characters is likeable, I felt nothing for any of them; forget one-dimensional, they're no-dimensional... and just awful human beings in general. Like I actually lost faith in humanity. This book tries so hard it's painful to read. The story is boring and weak, the characters are flat, it wants to be funny but is definitely NOT, and as a body of work it's madly pretentious. The story leads nowhere, nothing happens but a bunch of uninteresting rubbish. I kept thinking, This is a joke, right? Seriously? Oh God, no, it's not a joke. If you love reading about animal cruelty (more than once), the main characters cutting off a man's testicles for sport, and a group of the biggest a-holes known to man, you'll absolutely love this book. So annoyed by this that I'll be requesting a refund out of principle.

I am fairly certain she is the daughter of John Pilger, the political journalist and film maker. Dad must be very proud.

Fully agree with your review. The book was just... awful.
