Life-Like Sugar Flowers,
This review is from: Simplifying Sugar Flowers (Paperback)
This book plunges into the world of sculpting and painting life-like sugar paste flowers with the quality and dexterity of the finest in porcelain figurine sculptures and painting. Many flowers illustrated in the book are indistinguishable from the real plant and take the visual experience of cake decorating to the level of a fusion between botanical illustrator x pastry chef!
Much practice will be necessary to achieve the results proposed in the book, but the inspiration of this book has few peers. The steps to realizing these stunning works of sugar paste sculpture are clearly illustrated, with many cutter and template forms provided in the back of the book and a section called "cakes" that are more like real sections of an English garden in full bloom on "I cannot eat this, it's too beautiful" cakes, as well as botanical studies realized in fondant, sponge and sugar paste. Even if you never make a cake from the many suggestions and illustrations given in this book, you will and your coffee table book readers be inspired and enchanted!
