This review is from: Figure Drawing for All it's Worth (Hardcover)
Having spent the last few years studying Loomis via the "Save Loomis!" PDFs, I was overjoyed to find his work was back in print, and ordered right away. I didn't question that the content would be the brilliant and very beautiful series of sketches and informative figures that Loomis is well know and respected for, what I wasn't expecting was just how GORGEOUS this book is!
It's larger than I expected (not one to scrutinise measurements on the order page) is a lovely coffee-table sort of hardback with the original design glossy dust jacket. A thousand times better than any PDF, all the images are crystal clear and nicely set out. What I really like though is the way it's bound with the intention of being laid open for the eager artist to study and draw from, several art books I own are tightly bound and have to be forced to stay open on certain pages with any number of weights pressed down on either end. This is a book made to last, with content that is just as enduring.
I had convinced myself that I would have some restraint and only order the Loomis book I wanted the most, but now I have this fabulous tome of art in my hands I plain can't help but order the others!
