This is a very good debut & I enjoyed it alot, it did keep my interest, but she knows how to tease & tantilize throughout.
Written in the first person our protagonist is a 27 year old grim reaper, she leads dead people to the light, but it gets a bit tricky when the dead have been murdered or time cut short, they need closure & to be heard. She works as a consultant to the police & her uncle who is lead detective has no qualms about using a little inside information.
When there is a triple murder, she's called in to help. Ghosts aplenty & the constant reminder she's not 'normal', I found Charley a likeable character, witty, sarcastic, a huge chip on her shoulder, cynical & a world weary attitude where she cares more for the dead than the living. Her inner dialogue and thought processes made it entertaining with her unique prospective on the world & the dead. Heart wrenching, funny, Reyes is sexy as hell - the premise & plot are full, characters well rounded, I have ordered the next book in the series Second Grave on the Left.
If you like Chole Neil (Chicagolands), Kalayna Price (Grave Series) & those of that ilk give it a go. It's more plot than romance, but both are pretty intense.
Really enjoyed it & ready to read the next book..
