Masters at work,
This review is from: Private Eyes (Audio CD)
For me this just shades it over H20 as the best Hall and Oates album. It's maybe a bit less consistent but has a touch more new wave grit left over from Voices. The title track is near-perfect pop and I Can't Go for That is a trailblazing pop-soul pension fund. Elsewhere, Did It in a Minute and Head Above Water are great soft rock and Looking for a Good Sign is a Temptations homage. Hall's voice has never been better and Oates's songs are typically earnest stompers.

Perfect, soulful pop rock album. Sounds as fresh today as it did in 81.
