Life before Schenker,
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
This CD will probably not be enjoyed by the late 70s, 80s and present day UFO fans, it is a million miles away from the Schenker inspired UFO. As this CD is pre Schenker. The band line up being Mogg, Way, Parker and original guitarist Mick Bolton. This group were really into the Blues and boy can they play it. Every track is a guitar workout, long extended solos, with wahwah, feedback and lots of echo. I can understand no UFO fans being remotely interested in this album but anyone who is into the blues should give it a listen. Phil Mogg has a wonderful voice for singing the blues and Mick Bolton squeezes every last note out of his guitar. What sums this album up most of all is just before the encore Phil Mogg says to the audience 'this has to be our last song, because the guitarist fingers are so cut he won't be able to play for a month'.

D. Carter says:
That's not Phil speaking there, it's a Roadie: "They're gonna play one more for you because his fingers are so CUT, he won't be able to play for a MONTH!
This was just a sly joke at the expense of all those naive Nipponese in the audience. Almost a precursor to "They're changing the mikes, can I fill in.................."
