What do i think of this album?...A Classic!!,
This review is from: Cream Classics (Audio CD)
This album what not what I expected from cheesy commercial dance lords Cream and their monthly compilation release. As a die hard 1990's dance fan, I have witnessed a number of 'old skool classics' albums released with much the same tracks and with the same poor standard of mixing. For a start this album is good in the sense that it has 3 discs so you are getting more tracks for your money, something that satisfies the student in me
At first glance I thought the choice of 'classics' displayed on the album were strange choices considering some were little more than 2 or tops, 3 years old. But when playing the album i realised that some of the newer tunes were infact classics as they remind me of top nights out or other great memories. And of course, all the usual suspects were on there...personal fav's of mine featured on the album are Gat Decor-Passion, Booby Brown-2 can play at that game and the brilliant Livin Joy-Dreamer. Also most of the songs listed are the radio edits so they sound exactly how you are used to hearing them, not all remixed and losing the brilliance they were born with. I had a jolly good dance to all 3 cds and on the whole it is a brilliant album apart from a few tunes that leave a little to be desired...ie D:Ream-U R the best thing and M People (my mum has their album) and the mixing isnt exactly top standard but a lot better than stops and starts, and long intro's and fading outro's.
In conclusion, a very commercial album with mega floor filler hits from 1990-2002 mixed pretty badly by a computor but nevertheless an excellent selection of feel good tunes that will stir up favourite memories of all who listen to it. The best Old Skool album yet, by far. Long live old dance!!
