A real drama in the world of falsehood.,
This review is from: My Summer of Love [DVD] (DVD)
In its beautiful and compelling simplicity, the film is a real jewel, with rare and precious power of reaching to the very core of the viewer`s moral judgement. This is a story of injustice and abuse, but it is also a story of how reality is tested.
Mona, a truly tragic heroine is deceived deliberately, completely, cruelly. There is nobody and nothing to warn her. Her brother`s religious awakening is just as fake as anything Tamsin tells her. It is her love for Tamsin, however silly and naive, that, ultimately, is the only reality in the film.
At the end Mona is left hurt and disillusioned, but her suffering is not all in vain: it saves her brother from self-deception. Will Tamsin also learn a lesson?
