RC3 - It's addictive!,
This review is from: Polar RC3 GPS With HRM (Sports)
I've been a fan of Polar products over 10 years and have always found their heart rate and calorie data really accurate. Since I started running about 5 years ago I invested in a monitor that was giving me running pace and distance, too. I was thrilled to find out about the RC3 as having the GPS integrated into the watch is so much better than having a separate speed sensor! Setting up the RC3 was easy and picking up the GPS signal fast. It might take a minute or two but I've got into a routine of getting outside to do some lunges and squats before setting off. After my warm up the GPS is ready to go!
There are several training views but I normally just use one or two. I'm trying to learn about the benefits of training in different zones so I have my heart rate zone rather than bpm showing. I like the screen that is showing my heart rate, my pace and the distance I've covered. After the run you get immediate feedback e.g. Steady state training or tempo training, and lots of different data. My favourite is the running index which is scoring my run based on my performance that day i.e. heart rate and pace. It's addictive! All the usual data as you would expect are also in your training file (max, min and average heart rate and pace, time in different zones, calories etc). There's still a lot I can do with the watch to improve my running.
I've also started using the web service polarpersonaltrainer.com and there you can analyse your run further and get a map of your run. By pointing the arrow on the map you can review your pace and heart rate at the particular point. It's cool! I also like the more indepth information on the running feedback and the training load. Although it seems to be always suggesting that I'm ready to train again! I clearly need to step up the training and add some harder workouts.
Finally, I would recommend setting the automatic screenlock on so that you don't accidently end up recording if you wear it as an every day watch. The RC3 is slim enough to show off as part of your sporty style!
