2.0 out of 5 stars Amazon gets it wrong. Again., 28 July 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Blue [VINYL] (Vinyl)
Whilst the album obviously gets maximum stars for its context, I must point out to unwary purchasers that this vinyl version is NOT pressed by Simply Vinyl (the boutique audiophile vinyl reissue company). There was once a version of this album by Simply Vinyl but this is most certainly not it! - This version is re-released by Rhino UK (the sales arm of Warners). It is a 180 gram pressing and I haven't listened to it yet. It might be great. It might not. But it certainly isn't as described here. - My guess is that it will be a vinyl transfer from a digital source, not from the original analogue master tapes...

Oh, and it's a damn sight cheaper on the official Rhino site and elsewhere.

looking forwards to your subsequent analysis, T Williams - esp. sonic qualities (ex-digital, or genuine remaster from source tapes, pressing [RTI, since deceased or, god forbid, the atrocious GZ Vinyl in Czech Rep], etc)

To be fair it's a comment on the received product: music can be great but the reissued vinyl can be crap. And as Amazon generally aggregates all 'album' reviews in whatever format (I've a huge personal bugbear with the Laura Marling Vinyl version of her recent release, but that's another ongoing story) you can get a replacement for your old and treasured vinyl only to get a pup. Of course he's a Putz to post an `Only I haven't listened to it yet' review, but if the Amazon description is one of something from a certain source (in this case `Simple Vinyl' - don't know them, but then I've been away 20 odd years) he's a right to crib. But he'd have been better to keep his powder dry and put up a review after he'd given what he's got, due consideration. Keep sniping at the buggers and they'll raise their game.....
