This review is from: Linksys EA4500 Dual Band N900 Smart WiFi Router with Gigabit Ethernet and USB Port (Accessory)
Disclaimer: I haven't bought one, I'm basing my warning/review after trying countless hours to help my family set up theirs.

If you are looking for a router that will just work, start looking somewhere else. This is definitely one of those things that either works the way it wants or quite simply won't even let you talk to it.

In the end the only way to get it working was to use it like any old router: direct configuration through a browser, bypassing and forgetting any included software or services. In other words, you are paying extra for digital fat that at any time might decide to work against you, not for you. A big waste of money if you ask me. Go for something with fewer bells and whistles that at least works without a hassle.

Hi ASG,

Thank you for writing a review about the N900 Router. The setup wizard that came with the disc is a an easy walk-through on how to setup the device. Should you encounter any difficulty, these reasons can be considered:

* A firewall might be blocking the installation wizard from detecting the router correctly.
* Your internet connection type is not being read properly.

However, you can always configure the router manually. This may seem a little complicated for some, but the way that Linksys routers are designed, they are easy to understand and with the correct information and steps on hand, setup would just be convenient.

Here are links on how to setup the router manually for cable or DSL internet connection:
