Doctor Who Tardis Tent Opening
We purchased this product for our 8-year-old for his birthday. Thank goodness we had the thought to assemble it ready to play in for his actual birthday, as it took MUCH longer than expected...
The first problem that we encountered was that the corner angles of the poles were extremely tight, and once you have some of the frame together, it is near impossible to get the tent canvas to stretch enough (without tearing) to accommodate the corners of the frame! The other issue that we came across was that the poles are made of such brittle plastic, it easily splits! So make sure that you have a roll of duct tape to hand for repairs!
After almost 3 hours of blood, sweat and lots of tears, we finally got it assembled.
When our little one unveiled the Tardis on his birthday, he was absolutely overjoyed with it! He has not left it alone since, would live in there 24 hours a day if we allowed it!
I was quite surprised at the size of it once it was assembled, luckily we managed to make space for it. If you have a small room, be aware of this, because even in a large room it can make the room seem claustrophobic!
Entertainment-wise, I would say the product well worth the price. However, the quality of the frame poles and the design leave a lot to be desired.
It would be much better if the roof of the tent could velcro to the sides, so that it could come off and the tent side panels could be folded flat, like a dressing screen, rather than having to disassemble the whole thing every time. I think that it would also be better if rather than the sewn fabric tubes that you have to thread the frame poles through, maybe these could be velcro tabs of some kind - this would then prevent the fabric from tearing whilst trying to fit it onto the frame! And lastly, it goes without saying that the frame needs to be made from a better quality of plastic!
