2.0 out of 5 stars The Biggest Disspointment of 2008 for 360, 14 Dec 2008

Normally i just review games i like ... but i feel i just gotta warn people thinking of buying this little stinker ....

This game so hyped for before it's released and was in development for such a long time ..... so much anticipation , but when I finally got it and played through it ... it ended up being such a wet fish.

At best I rate this game is Average or slightly above average. But I just want to give it two stars today, because I feel I should be quite honest, it just can't compare to the tons of other great titles 360 has to offer.
It's not a completely bad game .... but i just have so many bad things to say about this game ...... and not as many good things .... so let's start below.

First of all the Camera is horrible .... that's one thing that really puts you off about the game , from your first moment , something you have almost no controll over , which almost seems essential in any 3d action game nowadays. You probably will get over the camera after the first few days.

Also the length of the game makes you really feel like you wasted your money ..... 4 levels ?!?! That's a laugh ..... what were the development team's targets ? ... Finish one level a year ??? Haha ..... nice silicon knights ..... spend another decade on it then we can have another 10 levels then it can be a full game ... i don't care how endlessly long you span out one level to be .....
It's funny though , because once I started getting into their semi-boring story ... it was the end of the game .... haha ... all that build up and no payback for all the time you invested.... you have to wait for the next in the trilogy ... not that this title even deserves to be a trilogy even.
put all 3 titles in this trilogy together and then probably you can call it a full game .....
Mass Effect is a good example of how a trilogy should be handled ... you got a good ending and payback for all the interest you showed in what was happening as you played .... and not be told to wait till the next game for paybacks in your emotional investments in the story and it's characters.
But then again you probably won't care much for these generic and boring characters really.

Anyway the overall look of the game seems dated to me , which makes sense if it has been in development for as long people are saying it has been : character animations generally seem wooden and Enviroments/level do seem rather flat , uninspired and restrictive.
But fighting dozens of enemies with no slowdown is rather impressive , but there are loads of one man army games that do this anyway like Dead Rising, Devil May Cry 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 ( just barely .... hehe ) and they are all much better choices than this game.

RPG elements don't really help this game much either ...... the menus are daunting at first and take a lot getting used to before work out what it all means.
Endless loot drops seem really unnecessary too ... every 2 minutes you're probably going to find something that makes something you just equipped redundant ....

Variety isn't as great as they boast either the 6 different classes , just don't offer enough distinct difference between them to warrant me another play through it again ..... the difference only seems to be in their statistics and not in their moves, abilities and animations .... the only differences the classes encourage is how aggressively or carefully you playing.

Oh and when you do die .... and you will be dying a lot , make no doubt about it ...you will be treated to an unskippable repetitive 30 second death sequence , that will be etched into the back of your mind for all eternity .... hahaha ....

Anyway yeah , overall .... lots of bad design flaws/annoyances and throughout this game and not enough game too.

But sometimes you do forget most of that when you in the heat of war , taking on dozens of enemies. I'll give too human that at least .... it does that quite well ... although the other games I've pointed out above are still miles above this game.
Gameplay is quite solid , although alot of the time you'll probably be looking at menus more than fighting.

Too human can still be fun , but there are just so many better examples of games on 360 you could be playing and spending money on, than this over anticipated wet fish that has failed many peoples' expectations including mine. So yeah, definitely no sequel for me really. I just have to say all the negatives out weigh the positives greatly and the only thing that could have changed my mind, is if the game was at least doubled in size, because 4 levels is a joke.

One of the few games on 360, I was actually sorry I bought .... especially after the hype of it being among the A-list titles , it so didn't achieve it's promotional ego, even after all those years of development.
