LSD fuelled texas psych & free form freak outs!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Parable Of Arable Land (Audio CD)
what a bizarre and most interesting album this is... the texan folk genius Mayo Thompson and his avant garde group the Red Crayola terrorised the ears of purists and blew the minds of the acid heads with this, their debut LP, in 1967...
label mates and friends with the 13th Floor Elevators, this album features some classic 'wobbly' psych tunes intwined between random free form jams (apparently featuring members of the 'Elevators and texas musicians!)...
classic tracks such as 'Transparent Radiation' (a huge influence on Spacemen3/Spiritualized/Space rock bands), 'Hurricane Fighter Plane' (just hearing it makes you feel drugged up!) and the self explanatory rant of 'War Sucks' make this a really worthy buy...
ps. the cover art is superb too! removed 1 star from the review rating simply because the free form jams can be a little tedious at times
