Worked well for a while, but ....,

This review is from: Vax Steam Mop - S2S-1 Bare Floor Pro With Detergent (Kitchen & Home)
This was my first steam mop and, while not expecting miracles, I was pleased with the results it gave. Then within a year of use, it simply started to fall apart. I wouldn't say it's been used excessively (once a week), or aggressively (I'm just not that strong), or carelessly, but bits of plastic started to drop off. Eventually the part that locks the little hoses into both the detergent and water containers broke to the point where they lost their seal. Then the clip that holds the detergent container broke off and I had to use a rubber band to hold it in place. Inevitably, the detergent container fell off a couple of times and cracked, rendering the mop useless (despite an attempt to patch it up with duct tape). Some might suspect me of heavy handedness, but in my defence I have never had such problems with any other household appliance or gadget!
I am going to purchase another steam mop, although it won't be a Vax. I'm hoping that another manufacturer will have paid more attention to the robustness of their product.

I could have written this review, exactly the same has happened to mine. I think VAX are good on design but poor on quality. I will also buy another but not a VAX.

Ditto all the above. I also have hair band holding containers in place plus the container with the detergent in gave up working after a few months. Admittedly it has fallen over a couple of times because it is not very stable but I would have hoped it would have lasted a lot longer than it has.
