A LOT BETTER THAN IT SOUNDS,
This review is from: WWE: Payback 2013 [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
This is one of those events that didn't sound too great written down, but I was pleasantly surprised.
It kicks off nicely with a triple threat for the i.c. title as MIZ battles with champion WADE BARRETT and other challenger Curtis Axel. It has some great moments, the last few minutes are very good and I liked the end.
Next a diva's match, get ready,it's actually a good one,no seriously. Diva champ Kaitlyn faces AJ,it's quite an entertaining battle, moments we don't usually get in women's matches, last couple of minutes really stand out, though the after match sobbing looked a bit odd.
KANE challenges DEAN AMBROSE for the u.s. title,it's very good, nothing special perhaps, but it works and the end makes sense, smart move.
DOLPH ZIGGLER defends his heavyweight title against ABLERTO DEL RIO. There's certainly moments of an attitude change from DEL RIO,it's a good enough match, coud've gone a bit longer, but it did what it had to do,i'd go as far as to say I enjoyed it.
Next what should be the match of the night, had me worried it might be a let down,it wasn't. So CHRIS JERICHO vs CM PUNK was the match it should've been, nice time given, top wrestling, quite a few good moments, kept you guessing who would win, interesting finish, loved it.
DANIEL BRYAN teams up with RANDY ORTON to take on champs SETH ROLLINS and ROMAN REIGNS,it's very entertaining and interesting to see BRYAN team up with someone else and look at ease with it. I would like to've seen this go on for several minutes longer, the 2 members of the shield look impressive again and there was another great end to the match.
Okay, the main event,3 stages of hell as JOGN CENA defends the wwe title against RYBACK. For me,the first stage, the lumberjack match was shockingly short, but captured the interest. Then the tables match turned up the entertainment factor as tables get smashed in various ways, finally resulting in a body going through one. I doubt i'll be giving much away by saying it goes onto the third stage of hell, the ambulance match. It's very good, okay it's nothing fantastic, but I liked the way the ambulance got a little stripped and battered,i also liked the crashing end, predicable as it was. So the 3 stages match did leave me impressed and was a great end to the show,a show a shall certainly look forward to watching again. What else can I say? I was entertained by this one.
