This review is from: Asus O!Play HD 1080p HDP-R1 Live Internet Media Streamer (Personal Computers)
I bought this so that I could stream .mkv (and similar) files from computer to widescreen tv. The playback was very poor, what would be in stunning hd on my monitor became a low res pixelated image on screen. MP4 files were the only ones which would play properly at high res. For UK resident the offer of internet tv is pretty pointless as there's nothing worthy on comment available in terms of UK channels
The big balls up though came when I followed instructions to the letter in order to update the firmware. Mid-installation the box reset itself and since that point whenever I attempt to turn on I get the message 'Please wait to update, this takes a few seconds'. Half an hour later and you still don't move on from this screen. Looking on the net it seems many other people have had this same problem, and like me they now have a useless plastic box. I've contacted Asus support but have just been ignored.
If you fancy spending £75 on a bit of plastic that has no use whatsoever then this may be just the sort of thing you're after. If you want something to act as a media center then you're best off looking elsewhere
