A definitive introduction to MSWLogo,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Great Logo Adventure: Discovering Logo on and Off the Computer (Paperback)
Although somewhat idiosyncratic in style, this book is an absolute boon for anyone interested in exploring the world and possibilities of LOGO. It is geared towards the use of MSWLogo and includes a free CD containing both MSWLogo, UCBLogo and other versions of the language.
The book is carefully sequenced to cater for absolute beginners right through to more advanced users. It is of especial (indispensable?) use to teachers or parents who want to work with their children. I found the book invaluable in deciding how to both teach and explore a huge range of ideas.
A small but interesting feature is the very unusual way the book has been bound. There are a lot of pages and yet it remains easy to open and use. I found this feature to be especially helpful when I was using it beside my PC.
It is worth noting that MSWLogo is always available for download, free of charge, via the Softronics website . . . and that Jim Muller also has his own highly entertaining and useful website.
I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this book to anyone with an interest in Logo. It will open your eyes to an enormous range of possibilities and challenges - just be prepared form Jim's writing style. It is geared towards young people but doesn't speak down to them.
