3.0 out of 5 stars little annoyed, 6 Dec. 2012

This review is from: Criminal Minds - Season 1-7 [DVD] (DVD)
I pre-ordered this as I love this series. Beware! I have watched what I thought was the first series which consists of 6 dvd's. I then progressed to the second series and was baffled as I realised there was something missing. When I really looked into it the second half of the first series ( the last 11 episodes) are missing from this box set.. very confusing and this is advertised as the whole series! I have no idea if the rest of the box set is the same as I haven't got that far yet. It is hard to work out what comes next as the names of the episodes are not published on the box.. or even on this page!!! what a shame as this is very expensive and a real let down.. This is not a review of the series itself which is fantastic, but Amazon should advertise this correctly.

I have got the same queries, but found it a bit strange that episodes are missing when advertised as complete. I suspect it is because you need to turn the DVDs over to get the rest (as seen posted for other US series) and Oneillnut must have missed this. Can anybody comment ?

Was bought this as a Christmas present (big fan of the show), have to say I'm a little baffled by this review. The first series has, in total, 22 episodes. Whilst I haven't checked all 6 discs yet, the first has 4 episodes, which are the first 4 episodes of series 1, being; "Extreme Aggressor", "Compulsion", "Won't Get Fooled Again" & "Plain Sight" (pretty much every other DVD series I own - Band of Brothers, Lost, Family Guy, The Pacific, Fresh Prince - has 4 episodes on each disc, with one or two having fewer to complete an the series) - thus basic mathematics suggests all 22 over the 6 discs (i.e. (5 x 4) + (1 x 2) = 22). No need to turn over the disc over either - standard DVD's. I'll admit the disc menu layout does make it appear each disc only has 2 episodes at first glance, yet easily confirmed by simply highlighting each episode in the menu. The discs are also clearly labelled in numerical order.

I'll tend to go along with what J.M Skinner says. I agree that this posting sounds very odd. I haven't bought the series yet (for the exact same reason as mentioned by you, Oneillnut), but feel re-assured by J.M. Skinner's posting (his basic math makes sense). My initial comment was in fact referring to a posting I saw elsewhere re. another series (Without a Trace I think), where somebody mentioned they also thought some episodes were missing, before realising they had to turn the DVD over to get the rest (I personally never experienced this, and I also do own quite a few boxsets).

yes feeling very reassured and also someone else has told me all the episodes are present - which is great - just wondering on the original post by Leigh if they have found theirs ????

i have 6 discs in the first series and there are only 2 episodes on each disc.. and the final disc is just a documentary.. i am thinking amazon changed the box set after i complained but i have had no recompense or reply from amazon.. i stand by my first post.. i only have 11 episodes on the first season .. amazon have obviously remedied this.. pity they have ignored my complaint..

I've also checked, all episodes are included - maybe Leigh expected more episodes (series one does end on a cliffhanger) not realising it was actually series two?

Sounds very odd, maybe you were unlucky enough to get a faulty set, but that's not 'false advertising'. Have you requested a refund or exchange? Personally, I've found Amazon very good in that respect.

You say you've got 2 episodes per disc & the 6th is only a documentary/extras disc, but you have only 11 episodes? Going by what you've just said you must only have 10, or a disc must have more (or less) than 2 episodes - something doesn't add up.

Today I've checked my box set. The first season appears to be complete: 22 episodes + bonus, 6 discs. Leigh's problem is most probably a mispress, I don't think amazon.co.uk is 'changing' box sets themselves. I assume they arrive sealed to their warehouses. I hope Leigh have received a new box set meanwhile.
