Great TV (until it stopped working),
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: LG 42LN570V 42-inch Widescreen 1080p Full HD Smart LED TV with Freeview HD (Electronics)
We bought this TV after a few months of deliberation, and on opening up the box (following the usual speedy delivery from Amazon) were very impressed with what we first saw.
It was very easy to set up as a basic TV out of the box, with no real need to change the default picture or sound settings. The Smart aspects of the TV were a little more tricky to set up as there were a number of updates that needed to run before we could get stuck in to things, and then even once we had got a few things linked up, we still only really used the TV for its basic purpose - watching live TV.
We tried a number of USB devices to make use of the PVR facility but to no avail - apparently they were 'incompatible with Time Machine II'. We also purchased a number of Wi-Fi dongles but none seemed to work (in the end we moved our Wi-Fi router and linked via Ethernet cable). It seems all peripherals would need to be proprietary, LG versions, or they weren't going to work.
None of this was really that big of an issue for us as it makes for a damn good TV (as I said earlier) - great sound, great viewing angles and proper blacks.
Unfortunately, in less than a month, the TV has ceased working at all and we've got a permanently black screen, our lovely new TV has been boxed back up and is on its way back to Amazon for a refund.
IN SUMMARY: A great TV if you're not planning on utilising the extra features or don't mind paying for the extra accessories (and assuming that you get more use out of it than we did!) We’d still go with LG for the future (as the picture and sound quality were great), but probably not this model due to the issues that we’ve had with it.
On a side note...(returns) After such a great experience in terms of the delivery, it's a shame that the returns process we've experienced has been rather disappointing. Yodel were a waste of space when it came to arranging return delivery (they can only do weekday pickups and then after I'd taken a day off to be at home on the date of collection, they never showed up), and although the Amazon customer services team are able to arrange a weekend pickup via a different courier, this has yet to take place as it was set up for the wrong address initially.
